Creating and Adding your own Header Graphic
Here is a checklist to ensure your new header graphic will work:
1) Your header needs to be 960 pixels wide.
2) Your header needs to be 150 pixels high.
3) File name of your header graphic must not have any spaces in it. Use dashes or underscore if needed. Example: “my-great-header.png”
We do not recommend Flash (FLV or SWF files) due to that fact that popular tablet and portable devices are not capable of displaying Flash Content plus you would need to edit the header.php file to insert a Flash Object tag. You can create a GIF animation with slides, transitions etc in popular image applications such as Photoshop.
How can I create my own Graphic:
If you are serious about graphics, creating new color schemes and designing awesome gradient backgrounds then there is really no way around Adobe Photoshop.
Before spending $700 we highly recommend to take a Photoshop class at your local community college – Photshop can be bit overwhelming to say the least.
Other alternatives are free online image editing tools such as aviary.com, logopixy.com, picnik.com (fee) and mugtug.com for slightly more advanced users.
The best source for getting stockphoto images is istockphoto, however you can also find great images on Flickr.
How do I upload my new Graphic to my Smallbiz Theme:
Upload a new header graphic by using the uploader option in the SmallBiz Options panel.
The SmallBiz Theme will set automatically apply a black/grey menu color scheme. You can use the color pickers in the SmallBiz Options Panel to create your own custom color scheme to match your header graphic.
