Squeeze Page or Opt-in Page with the SmallBiz Theme

I would like to create a Squeeze Page or Opt-in Page or Website using the Smallbiz Theme.

Businesses (you) need to provide a “double opt-in” for any lead it is capturing in order to not violate the Can-Spam Act.

See details here: http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus61-can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business

Service providers such as Aweber, MailChimp, iContact and ConstantContact etc, provide the proper tools and let you embed forms that will trigger an autoresponder email to confirm the Opt-in.

WordPress by itself cannot fulfill all the legal requirements and not being compliant with Can Spam can have legal consequences if pursued by a person, company or organization whose email has been captured.

Most providers will have multiple different opt-in layouts to choose from. The provider will give you the form in either html or javascript format. To insert the form into your pages or posts simply toggle WordPress into html mode and paste your code.

Optional: Removing the Menu Completely

If you want to build a Squeeze page (single site website with no menu) follow the steps below to remove the menu bar.

1) Log into WordPress
2) Click on Appearance -> Editor
3) A file called style.css should load by default (if not select it from the file list on the right)
4) Add the following:
#access {display:none;}

Optional: Removing the Menu only on a Selected Page

1) Create a new Page in WordPress
2) Select the “Page without Menu” template from the Page Attribute/Templates dropdown on the right side of the editor.
